2013 May - Nero - Commercial // Production Design

2013 May - Nero - Commercial // Production Design

After a long pre-production time the Shootings for Nero began. It's a story based in the time of Nero, emperor of Rome. It tells a little different story of the great fire he started... this time by accident.

Although it's a commercial, it was still a low budget production. Therefore we needed a location which was easy and cheap to dress as Nero's palace. A big help was the fact, that the movie should look like an old Italian sword-and-sandal movie. We found an old Roman villa in the south of Germany. It was rebuild to show the life of the Romans in northern Europe. About 200 yards away from the main set, we found a little Germanic hut. Both sets were dressed as good as possible without looking like a high-end set. The light did the rest, so it looked like a studio setup back in the 70s. Props were the main problem on the set, because there are not so much stores for historical stuff in Germany. Massive use of Copper-spray, rough cloth and natural fire did fine to tell the story believable.

I don't have any material of the Shooting yet so I will upload something as soon as I have more to show. It's worth waiting.
